About the hotel:
The Black Tip Dive resort is good choice ONLY for a divers. If you are not keen on diving you have to run during the check inn. The service is realy poor. We moved to the city after one night and nobody asked us why. The resort is at the jungle, even not soil route goes there. The dogs where live at this resort had a better service then guests.

The cabins/ bungalows up on the hillside were perfect (except we had a rat problem but the staff gave us sticky pads). The restaurant is interesting - it says Black Tip, but we could not charge stuff to our room. Being far from the city was nice, and the taxi ride in is handy (very bumpy road - be prepared).

If you re coming to scuba dive at Koh Tao, this is a good place to stay. The dive staff was very friendly and the dives were great. Our bungalow and the property left more to be desired. Though nicely designed, we had ants and a large spider in the bathroom and a rat. Our friends next door had rats...for which the hotel staff provided sticky traps but did not offer a move. It is the tropics but scratching all night long and rat poo on the floor...yuck. The garbage around the property is not also managed well and incomplete construction sites (obviously unattended for quite some time) greet you upon arrival. Past that, Black Tip is secluded. It s Tanote Bay is beautiful and offers good snorkeling.

Этот отель для дайверов. Находится примерно в 20 мин езды от Sairi, в бухте Tanot-bay. Есть дайв-скул. Собственно ехали в него ради дайвинга. Snork там тоже шикарный. Кораллы живые, рыбы… К сожалению, ни черепах, ни чёрных акул увидеть не удалось, они подальше от берега и поглубже. Жили в бунгало с А/С. Особенности Ко Тао таковы, что нет электричества. Точнее днём оно есть, а с 18.00 включают дизель-генератор и кондиционер не работает. Но не сварились. Завтраки в стоимость не включены, поэтому питались по меню, либо континентальный завтрак, либо американский. Удовлетворительно. Рядом ещё несколько дайв-отелей и …. Джунгли!!! С утра загорали и купались, потом обедали и или пережидали жару на рецепшене, где есть WiFi днём, или ехали в Сайри. Когда спадала жара, но было ещё светло, ходили гулять в джунгли. С женой. Дочь наша, гордый тинейджер и придерживается золотого правила: «Не ходите дети в … джунгли гулять». Вобщем, обезьяны нас не побили и змеи не покусали. Зато, сколько интересного увидели. Всё понравилось, но отель всё-же больше ориентирован на дайверов/ This hotel for divers. Is approximately in 20 mines of driving from Sairi, in bay Tanot-bay. Is dajv-cheekbones. Actually went to it for the sake of diving. Snork there too the smart. Corals live, fishes … Unfortunately, neither turtles, nor black sharks to see it was not possible, they far away from coast and are deeper. Lived in a bungalow with А/С. About the hotel:
Black Tip hat was fantastic place for me and my boyfriend. I suggest it for thoes who are looking for quiet place far from crowds and tourists. A road is not that good and easi to accessable, but they offer frequent taxi service to centre. we stayed there 2 nights and i think that during thoes dayes you can just relax at beach, enjoy snorkeling or diving and there is no need to go to centre. for thoese who like adventure I suggest rent a bike and chalange your selfe and reach this hotel ourselves. beach is clean, bungalow was very good and staff was great. I suggest definitely this hotel to explore the island, learn to dive and lot more. for me location was perfect however it is far from centre and shops. if you want enjoy nightlife, shopping, eat outside hotel you might choose other hotel. For us that was perfect

Nice enough place to stay. I was looking for quiet, warm water, and good snorkeling. Even though this is the quietest island in the area, and Black Tip is on the far side of the island from the port, I was looking for something even more pristine/remote. Snorkeling/ocean was OK, but not great (I went to Sail Rock, etc., a number of places). No direct view from the rooms of the ocean, but very close. Everything on the island is expensive, bring food, etc. with you if you can.

Great position and good restaurant. Staff very helpful and cheerful. Free wifi and water. Rooms fine but set in jungle so unable to sit on patio without mossies. Wonderful snorkelling straight off the beach. Road to resort is unmade and quite an experience!

Tanote is 5km away from Mae Haad.The journey to Tanote is an adventure(miserable street).The Black Tip is directly located on the beach.The bungalows are all located in a jungle.Tanote is the best place in Koh Tao for snorkeling (directly from the beach).Problem is, Tanote is a very isolated place (for trips to other bays,it was only possible to order Longtail-boats from Mae Haad (very expensive).For this reason,we finished after 3 nights our stay in the Black Tip and we moved to the Sunset Buri Hotel on the Sairee Beach (very good decision).

Black Tip Diving & Water Sports. We are a PADI Gold Palm IDC resort located in Koh Tao, Thailand. We have two convenient locations on the island in Mae Haad and Aow Tanote. Our main dive shop and resort are located in quiet and relaxed Aow Tanote on the east side of the island. In Tanote Bay, renowned for its snorkeling, you will be able to spot some of our usual residents: turtles, parrot fish, Blue Spotted Stingrays, Jenkins Whip Rays, butterfly fish, scorpion fish, file fish and of course the Black Tip Reef Sharks, for which our resort is named.

Away from the crowds, with a relaxed, unspoiled beach, it is renowned by snorkelers and divers for its abundance of marine life and clear visibility. Many species of fish, coral, sponges, anemones, snails, sting rays, reef sharks, sea snakes and turtles, incl. the endangered Hawks Bill turtle, inhabit this beautiful little bay.



:: ACCOMMODATION ::
We have several types of bungalows available and all rooms come with hot water, western toilet and 24 hour electricity.

img  An economy room comes with double bed, shared bathroom (shared only between 2 rooms) and garden view. The economy is ideal for families/groups as the 2 rooms are joined in the middle by the shared bathroom. The price is per room. There is a maximum of 2 persons per room.

img  A standard bungalow comes with double bed or twin beds, private bathroom, verandah, garden view and your choice of fan or A/C. There is a maximum of 2 people per room.

img  An Economy Standard bungalow has double bed, private balcony and private bathroom and sea view. However, this room does NOT have hot water shower or A/C. There is a maximum of 2 person per a room. Please note that this room is slightly higher up the hill and it takes about 5 - 10 minutes to get down to the beach from these rooms.

img  An Economy Family Bungalow can accommodate a maximum of 3 people. It comes with one double bed and one single bed, private bathroom, verandah, garden view and your choice of fan or A/C.

:: SERVICES & FACILITIES ::
Black Tip Dive Resort & Water Sport Center offers:

img  PADI courses :  are built like a ladder: first you learn the basics in the Open Water course, and then you gain more knowledge about other types of diving equipment and techniques on the Advanced course. Next a Rescue Diver learns about preparing form avoiding and dealing with emergencies. A Dive master is the first level of the professional diver ratings when you can start to work and make money from diving. You must complete each course in order to progress to the next level.

img  Fun dives : For certified fun divers there are several options to choose from. Throughout the week we dive at a variety of the 30+ dive sites surrounding Koh Tao. In the mornings we do 2 dives from the boat. Surface intervals are also on the boat. And while you are waiting you can be seated upstairs on the sun deck (where half the deck is covered) or be seated inside on the lower deck. There is also water, tea, biscuits, fruit, and toilet on board for your convenience. These prices include all equipment and Dive Master assisted dive tours.
